The German painter Matthias Hübner (born 1976 in Querfurt, former GDR) is among the artists who combine tradition with a spirit of experimentation. Even as a child, he showed an extraordinary talent for painting and won the GDR Youth Painting Competition in 1989 and the European Painting Competition of the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken in 1993.
After years as a musician and producer, he returned to painting with renewed passion in 2020. His works – a fusion of realistic portraits, expressive neon colors, and UV-reactive effects – establish him as an exciting voice in Leipzig’s contemporary art scene.
In 2025, Galerie TscharT in Leipzig presented his first major solo exhibition “farbTON.” In the same year, he received the Finalist Award at the Teravarna International Juried Art Competition and will be featured in further exhibitions in Augsburg and Bonn. Matthias Hübner’s art thrives on contrasts, emotions, and openness.
His paintings are not meant for a single interpretation but invite viewers to discover their own stories and meanings – between light and shadow, silence and energy.
